FEBRUARY 2021

JANUARY 2021

Calm before the storm - 02/23/21

  • At 19:00 of 9th February 2021, eyes over the horizon, SB19 dropped an epic photo of their "Ikalawang Yugto" concept photo which sent A'TIN into a frenzy and top trended on PH & worldwide. This also churned out a total of 18 articles from local, regional and international outlets. Should this be seeded PR release, with the same content with varying descriptions, we don't know, but as it is published on respected media outlets and blog sites means, they know that A'TIN's readership is web traffic.

  • On February 15th, 6 days after the release of the "Ikalawang Yugto" teaser photo, SB19 dropped one short epic video of what's in store in "Ikalawang Yugto" - a full one-minute and 34 seconds of SB19 concept photos and videos shot in majestic Rancho Bernardo Luxury Villas and Resort in Bataan spearheaded by Chapters PH and styled by Ranque Styling Team. This garnered 10 articles from various media sites highlighting the intense concept for SB19's comeback. Reactors also began reacting to the comeback teaser with much anticipation and highlighting one of the big surprise of the teaser, Sejun changing his name to Pablo. Another side of the fandom, fans started a streaming party with a goal to reach 1M before the comeback date and even, some fanbases started to raise funds for the promotions of Ikalawang Yugto.

  • A day after the teaser drop, from Feb 16 - 21, SB19 then started releasing solo photos of each member per day with their different looks. By order of the teaser appearance, Pablo, Josh, Ken, Stell, Justin then OT5. Aside from the official post of SB19 on all socmeds, members also posted additional shots on top of individual comeback photos.

  • Simultaneous to Valentine's Day, A'TIN have been pouring their energy to score SB19 a win on Idolpick whereby the goal is set a guaranteed billboard ad on both Hong Kong and Seoul. With grit and dedication, A'TIN managed to score SB19's win against Asian juggernauts and secured them the title of 'Idolpick's Best Pop Star in Asia'. By 19th February, SB19's ad with the comeback date is live on Namdaemun, Seoul and MongKok, Hong Kong. The LED Wall display will both run from February 19th - 25th. We don't know if this will result in another DongA article but we'll wait for it.

  • On February 22, SB19's Ikalawang Yugto Teaser reached 1 Million views on YouTube.

  • Amidst the noise that A'TIN has been making to promote the comeback of the boys on March 9, 2021, there's a deafening silence that we had to endure: Josh isn't streaming his usual games, Stell isn't on Tiktok live, Jah's YT is more or less past contents. Although, Ken had been dropping contents, here and there and his recent discovery of Twitter's fleets but it's mostly random contents like memes or food. Don't even ask about Pablo coz we already know how he is on socmed.

  • Despite having no update from the five, they were able to release a new brand deal with KFC Philippines. A huge surprise for A'TIN because of the collective dream of them endorsing a food chain brand. This resulted to... quite a few orders as seen from multiple twitter posts. Prior the announcement, KFC posted a blurred teaser on their official Twitter page on February 21 and release a short ad on the 22nd with SB19 promoting their newest product Chicken Chops.

  • With all the these things happening and the boys' cold shoulder treatment on socmed, suffice to assume that them being incognito and no latest selfies would mean, they are getting new looks. We can only assume that someone will be getting a haircut or something, or or or someone might dye their hair. We don't know. All we know that they are preparing well for the comeback and we welcome this dedication to their craft. What we can do (and, not so well) is to wait patiently until the March 9th. From there, Ikalawang Yugto era will launch and A'TIN will be busy again in setting new milestones together with boys. We welcome the silence, if this would mean a powerful comeback. Good luck, boys!

Farewell GITZ - 02/06/21

Thought of starting the Journo Codex with a Goodbye.

Coming from an FB fansite, I made it a habit to check on the news. During that time, SB19 is gaining traction. Articles would appear here and there more on features relating them K-pop.

From write-ups saying they are a viral sensation and K-pop inspired, they turned to P-pop phenoms & a group carrying the name of PH to int'l charts... I read how they progress to what they are now.

Back then, I'd be lucky to read a few write-ups, sometimes even just mentions from event articles. Sensational as it may seem, fans give so much attention to articles, albeit wrong infos, but an article nonetheless.

The eagerness among fans to propel them to greater heights is inspiring, they would correct articles, comment on them like crazy. It seems trivial, but it was important for fans, that we are serious in supporting SB19.

And it worked! Media outlets started writing them as P-pop. Articles would come from least expected outlets like marketing sites, overseas websites and even academic papers.

Within the era of GITZ, SB19 & A'TIN managed to support each other as a newfound family. Media would write about them and the spike in readership is evident. Even a small gesture such as donation drives would churn out a few articles.

Now, stronger together, SB19 x A'TIN will say goodbye to GITZ era, but it will always hold a special place in our hearts. Coz in GITZ era, we found each other.

The articles we read together and milestones we made along the way will be a chronicle of what SB19 & A'TIN has been through.

Let that be a reminder of how far we've reached together.

As we say goodbye to GITZ era, let's all look forward to the next one with SB19, hopeful.

Somewhere along the way, we'll grow in numbers, maybe support other groups aiming for the same goals...

But let's not forget the songs from GITZ era that made us love 5 guys, who dreamt big.

Let's continue to support them... Hanggang sa huli.
